The first step of Re-thinking has been taken at the cinema Spegeln in Malmoe by Feminist Dialog in 5th March 2013. The first program was a collaboration with IFEMA and with the support of ABF Malmö. The main subject of the Re-thinking was focused on the strategy and the tactics used by women to stop the war and to end the various conflicts.

As the NGO´s co-founder Parvin Ardalan added “This is the Feminist Dialog’s first program for feminist re-thinking about women´s situation in conflicts and war. We would like to discuss and analyze the women´s situation by inviting those who have lived or are living in different conflict situations, regions of war and militaristic locations.”

The program started with a video greeting from iranian women activists against war.

The evening went on with the Lebanese film ”Where Do We Go Now?” by director
Nadine Labaki.
The film demonstrated how ordinary women organized to prevent a religious conflict between the men in the village.
The evening resumed after the film by a discussion among Trifa Shakely and Miriam Estrada-Castillo and was moderated by Sholeh Irani.

Below you can read some quotations of the panelists.

Sholeh Irani
- Foreign editor at
Feministiskt Perspektiv
(moderator)
“Vi befinner oss i en epok av historien där det präglas av uppror, motstånd och revolt med krav på rättvisa, jämställdhet och frihet i hela världen.
Kvinnor har blivit en allt starkare röst i den här globala motståndskraften.”
“We are in an era of history where it´s characterized bu uprising, resistance and rebellion with demands for justice, equality and freedom throughout the world.Women have become an increasingly powerful voice in this global resistance.”
“Det är viktigt att fokusera på hur kvinnor gör motstånd då militarismens första offer är kvinnor.” “It is important to focus on how women resist, since the first victims of militarism are women.”
Trifa Shakely
- Activist and former editor of Bang
“I krig så händer det också att kvinnokroppar representerar en nation. Nationen, moderlandet och hemlandet. Därmed att våldta och våldföra sig på kvinnorna är att pinka revir, att ta någon annans land och förskjuta gränserna, de nationella gränserna.
Det är det som krig handlar om.”
“At war, as it also happens, women’s bodies represent a nation.
The nation, motherland and homeland.
Thus, to rape and violate women is to define one’s territory’, to take someone else’s land and to push the boundaries, the national borders.
That’s what war is about.”
“Filmen handlar om klassiskt underjordiskt motståndsarbete.” “The film is about classical underground resistance work”
Miriam
Estrada-Castillo
- Former senior legal advisor to the UN Security Council
“The power of war has developed in order to take over the natural resources.War is a matter of power, … the economical and political power.
That is it.”
“Krigets makt har utvecklats för att ta över naturresurserna. Krig handlar om makt, … ekonomisk och politisk makt.
Det är allt.”
“… the only way to face the problems is to get together, … women and also men, in a powerful movement for peace and we should have essentially “the conscience of where we are going?” “… den enda vägen att möta problemen är att gå samman, … kvinnor och män, i en kraftfull rörelse för fred … och vi borde ha det väsentligaste;
“medvetenheten om vart vi går?”
“The union makes the strength.” “Styrkan kommer från sammanhållningen”
